Cross Riverians calls for resignation of commissioner for health for misleading the public
Commissioner for health, Betta Edu with the newly arrived kits

The entire population of Citizens Solution Network and a host of other Civil Society Organisations within Cross River State are now calling for the resignation of the State Commissioner of Health on the ground that she is misleading the general public in a dishonest fashion about everything including the latest medical equipment that have been shown to be anaesthetic machine and not ventilators as claimed by her which are terribly unfit for respiratory sustenance.

Secondly, we are calling for her resignation on the ground that she lacks the leadership capacity and managerial insight to lead the Cross River State Health Commission. For thus far her action has been about scoring cheap media points without genuine actions.

Let it be on public registry that, if a Commissioner lies about basic things as machines, such Commissioner is likely going to endanger us all when major diseases strike. Health is more than wealth make no mistake, without health everything stays static and wealth can not come from inactivity.

Hence, the last thing any one of us need at this moment is to allow some dishonest person to be mounting a Ministry as important as health during these trying times.

No person should try going about deceitfully to score empty political points in media space when we need leadership sincerity and genuine medical responses.

Lying to the public is neither genuine medical responses nor honest and strong leadership which we need more than ever before.

For this reason and more, we therefore call for her resignation with immediate effect while calling on the Governor of Cross River State_ Prof Ben Ayade to have her replaced forthwith with a more genuine personality of his choice.

Cross River State is yet to record any case of coronavirus but has carried out two tests already of which one was the Governor of Cross River State on his arrival From abroad and the state is reported to have only four beds at their isolation centre.
